ROME TOURIST INFORMATION
Rome Tourist Information - When you arrive in to either of Rome Airports you’ll find two tourist information booths in the Arrivals terminal - one is for Rome only, and another for other destinations in Italy. Here you can get Rome Italy maps for around the city or get help in booking a room, renting a car, etc. You can also get information about what’s on during your stay and useful leaflets on sightseeing attractions. The Tourist Information Office is also a good place to learn about the different tours that are available. |
The currency in Italy is the euro and
you will have absolutely no difficulty if you want to change
sterling or dollars. Your hotel will do it for you or there
are many banks and currency exchange offices in the city (including
at the Airports).
There are also information booths set up in the city, near
the Pantheon and the Coliseum, One of the main tourist offices
in the city is Via Parigi 11, Telephone +39 06 488 991; Fax
+39 06 481 9316 There is also a information facility at Enjoy

You will find that Rome’s climate is generally good
for tourists with plenty of sun but it can be hot in the months
of July and August. A crowded time from a tourist point of
view is Easter and Christmas with many of the tourists focusing
on the Vatican. Italy is a warm country,
and very comfortable in the summertime. The city of Rome,
however, is just like any other large city in the heat of
the summer. At night Romans take to the streets, as the heat
in the house or apartment can be stifling. Not to worry, though,
because Romans have a way with making the most of the situation
with vendors and a street fair like attitude which can last
long into the night. The average temperature is 50 degrees
Fahrenheit during the winter months, while reaching a high
of around 86 in august.
You need not pack any clothes for cold weather, (although
you want to be comfortable at night especially if you are
traveling in October, one of the big festival months.) Spring
and fall are the best seasons to Visit Rome.
You will find fewer people in the tour groups, and be able
to get a more personalized tour, the summer months are high
tourist season, if you're in a party mood, this is the best
time of the year to go.
